Our final round was played on the outstanding Montrose Golf Links, the 5th oldest golf course in the world.
Montrose’s Medal course might be an antique but as a final Open qualifying venue, it has never lost any of its teeth. This is as a true a test of links golf, a bold, gorse-lined battlement by the sea.
Montrose calls for a new set of shots especially if the wind is up. There is adequate room out there but you quickly have to adjust your game to accommodate the ever-changing elements.
A good golfer will love this course!
There are two courses at Montrose, the Medal and the Broomfield, a shorter, easier track ideal for a warm-up before the main event.
