Kirriemuir Golf Club

Kirriemuir Golf Club at the foot of the Angus Glens is a pocket-sized parcel of golfing enjoyment fashioned in the 1920’s by the late, great golf architect, James Braid.

This is one of Scotland’s true gems, 18 riveting holes placed into a 77-acre site with the precision of a Swiss watch. The course stands at a mere 5553 yards but every stroke requires timing, accuracy and Ballesteros-type imagination.

Kirrie makes up in guile what it lacks in length. There is no Par 5 to be found, rather a series of exciting Par 4’s. But it’s the approach shots and putts that really count here.

Kirrie’s greens often slope and it is not uncommon to watch a ball slide past the hole leaving just as far to putt back again.

The wee Red Toon of Kirriemuir is famous as the birthplace of J.M. Barrie who penned the story of the boy who never grew up. Its narrow streets and red sandstone buildings are steeped in history while modern cafés and interesting gift shops now grace its thoroughfares.
