Edzell Golf Club is only 7 minutes drive away from Brechin so you could play both courses in a day.

We chose to warm up on Edzell’s new 9-hole West Water course before taking on the main venue. Edzell’s big course is exceptional, a feisty series of varying challenges in a magnificent setting.

Unusual for a James Braid design (he was prolific especially in this area) Edzell throws everything at you at the 2nd. The tee shot is blind but you need to clear the rise and split the fairway with length in order to set up for a long iron into an almost hidden green.

Things can easily go wrong here with OOB close by on the right. Edzell’s setting and sturdy set of challenges make it a memorable outing that most will relish and want to take on again.
